Taking clips off movies.

Hey guys,

For one of my classes I need to take clips from a DVD and then splice them together. However, I don't know where to start. Are there programs that will allow me to do this? If so where can I find them and are they free. Any other ideas on how to do this are more then welcome.

Thanks,

It's for edumacation, and thus should be legal to....

Use a program like DVD Decrypter to put the DVD on your HDD.
Then put that footage into a program like Adobe AfterEffects... granted it's not a free program, but it is a free 30 day trial... or should be.

If AfterEffects doesn't work, I believe you should be able to put the files into Windows Movie Maker and splice it up there.

    It's been too long....

Windows Movie maker is probably your best bet.

    thanks for the tips guys,

I read an article about this. It said that in 2006 a congressional oversight comittee never came to a conclusion if it was legal. They said that as long as it wasn't for resale and only for personal use.
