Display Issues with Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition

One of the projects I am working on right now is organizing our server room at work to work with KVM switches. My predesessor had 3 monitors, 3 mice, and 4 keyboards that he used to view all of the servers. I think is most cases he had to crawl behind the server shelf and plug things in manually. It's a rats nest back there.

My biggest problem is with our Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition machine that runs Citrix. For whatever reason I can not get a monitor to work with this machine. Before I start swapping KVM switches and such around it actually worked. Now the only way I can access the machine is using VNC.

When I had it hooked up to a Dell flatscreen monitor it kept saying something about non-supported video mode or something of that nature. I tried a few different resolutions and even another monitor with no luck. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Try setting the resolution to 640x480@16bit color, and working your way up to there. It might be one of those ancient-ass video cards that only uses up to 24bit.

I got the monitor to display 640x480 with 256 colors. It wouldn't let me go below 256 colors but it worked so I'm not arguing. Anyhow, the problem now is that when I hit ctrl+alt+del to lock the computer it changes the resolution to 800x600 which immediately causes the screen to go blank. Is there a setting somewhere that I can change so that when I hit ctrl+alt+del it stays at the same resolution as the desktop?
