Belkin Wireless G Router (F5D7230-4) problems

edited March 2007 in Science & Tech
Hi I wondering if anyone has encounted the same problems that i'm currently facing.

I bought a Belkin Wireless G Router (F5D7230-4) and Belkin wireless G usb network adapter like a month ago but I had no internet so I didn't bother hooking it up. But now I have hooked it up to my computer and all seemed good until now..

I have it set up correctly so I think aswel as I have secured it with WPA not WPE. Basically everything works fine I can access the internet and so forth however when I try to play Counter Strike Source or any other FPS game for that matter online as soon as I load into the server about 30 seconds in my wireless connection will go down.

It isn't a problem with Zero Config, I have updated the firmware for the router and the adapter to the latest versions but the problems happens. Yes I have opened the right ports for the game as well. I do know bit about computers and so forth but this is eating my brains up. I checked steam site etc they all says it to but with my router and intel card.

Btw my internet connection is 2mb Virgin Media cable connection.

Soooo please if anyone has any suggestions or the solution to my problems could you please help. =[

This might solve your problem ...I've done it with my router now all seems fine. Disable using belkin's utility and just use the windows one. Set it so it automatically connects and you shouldn't have any problems afterwards.I think the belkin's utility program is screwed. I never lose signal now beside on random days when I switch my computer on, it doesn't connect automatically so you have to open windows network utility and refresh it or just click connect. I think that should solve it. This problem is common cause my friend has the same problems as you and me and this solution works for him and me. Those belkin tech people are crap they keep telling to me reset my router and other bs stuff which has nothing to with your problem because I have spent countless hours on the phone with them about the consist loss of signal. Anyways try it out and let me know if it works for out for you.

which computer did u install the router software on? I think it is yours? I'm only guessing anyway ...with the router u got a cd for the router and one for the usb network adaptor... right? which ever computer u installed the router cd stuff on it should have a wireless belkin's utility software. Locate it and open it (you should have it check in your program files if it doesn't automatically come up when you start windows...it should be in the bottom right hand corner.) When you found it open it then go to the options section and click "use windows utility" then save the changes. Now restart your computer and it should connect using the windows software. Hopefully this will stop you from losing signal all the time. Then on our daughter's laptop change the it from belkins to windows utility as well. but if yours it wired I'm not too sure cause 3 computers in my house are all wireless. So you might not need to do anything on your computer but only on your daughter's laptop since I suppose u never lose connection since your's is wired.
