HELP!! With Silcon 3512 SATA Controller

Ok, so I have an ASUS P4S8x motherboard. I'm using the onboard SATA ports. I have 2 250gb harddrives with RAID1. I got my hands on a SATA DVD Burner. So I went out and purchased a $20 SATA PCI Card from CompUSA, a Silcon 3512 SATA controller. Whenever I plug the DVD burner into the card my system wants to boot to the Burner and it shows "invalid system drive". But if I boot up without the DVD burner plugged my system boots fine. WTF is going on here... Why won't it boot from my onboard SATA drives???
