Napster unveils payment cards

edited October 2003 in Science & Tech
Yesterday, the online music retailer Napster unveiled its own prepaid cards to target teenagers and others without credit cards. A $15 (£9) card, which will offer 15 downloads, is set to go on sale in about a months time. This announcement comes only a few days ahead of the scheduled release of the new Napster 2.0 software.

[blockquote]The prepaid card initiative is critical because it eliminates a significant barrier to the legitimate digital music market: how to involve teens and millions of other Americans who don't have credit cards," Napster president Mike Bebel, said in a statement.

    Very good idea.

Sony's taken the same approach with their Gamecards for Everquest and Planetside.

It's really a good idea, and a smart one.

They'll have them out just in time to be stocking stuffers for Christmas, I'm sure.
