New hard Drive

Hi,
I just got a new hard drive and want to use it as my main one, so how do I set it up. I would like to use all my old windows programs and XP without having re-install everything. How do I do this?

    Are you familiar with Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image?

    You're going to have to clone your hard drive, and have a copy of one of these programs to do so.

    Also does it matter if I go from a Maxtor Hard Drive to A Western Digital?

    Acronis true image is just about perfect for this kind of work, I recommend it over Ghost.

    No, brands do not matter. As long as your computer can see both drives, you're in the clear.
