Recompiling squidguard databases

I'm learning how to operate squid here at school until I roll our Win2003 Server out. I've created a custom filter for squid, and I know it's right as I used existing squid configs as a template, and added it to the squidguard.conf.

I need to know how to reboot squid and recompile the squidguard DBs in relation to my updated filters. I'm running debian on the server. If you need the version of Debian and the location of squid, I'll be glad to provide it.

dont you just have to run /etc/init.d/squid restart to restart the service and have the filters take effect?
