Yahoo has been on the heels of the mobile market for almost 3 years. They've released versions of its Yahoo Go 2.0 & Mobile web browsers, but only for a few select phones.
Yahoo, in the past months, has not only released a new version of Yahoo Go, but they have also tied the knot with HTC (High Tech Computer), the leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile smart devices. The relationship with HTC will allow Yahoo the chance to preload Yahoo’s mobile services on millions of HTC devices.
Yahoo Go 2.0 currently offers custom widgets that will allow access to email, news, photos, stocks, maps, weather and, of course, web browsing. The service is pretty streamlined compared to other offerings online, and overall the concept is well-tuned. Yahoo is currently able to offer the service on 75 Windows Mobile devices and the service will be supported by more than 175 different mobile phone models in the near future.
I went to Yahoo’s mobile site to see if my Sprint PPC-6700 pocket PC was able to get Yahoo Go 2.0. To my shock, my phone was not listed on the current compatibility charts. But, I do have hope: I dug a bit further and found that Yahoo says the new browser is "Coming Soon" for my phone. To see if your Windows Mobile phone is supported head on over to http://go.yahoo.com.
