So for a noobie builder such as myself, can someone clarify a (possibly silly) question? Im about to buy a 64bit copy of Vista Ultimate and I want to be sure it will still run games made for 32bit systems...

Thanks for any hepl - SN -

AFAIK The 64bit version is the least compatible version with the most amount of bugs for Vista.

I would highly recommend against 64bit vista. Tell me why you need it and I'll change my mind if the reason is good.

The only time you need 64bit is if you intend to have more than 4gb of ram, or if you use fully 64bit professional applications such as cad/rendering/science apps.

64bit for "all of the rest of us" is nothing but a huge headache. 64bits aren't "faster" or anything better than 32bit when all useful software, games, and drivers are all 32bit.

On a scale of 1 to JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION, GET IN THE CAR, WinV64 lands just shy of "A river of blood. Is it Judgement Day already? :(" on compatibility.

To let you know if you buy Windows Vista Ultimate it ships with both 32-bit and 64-bit disc's. So you can run Ultimate 32-bit and in the future reformat and install 64-bit when it becomes more main stream :) or I should say if it becomes more main stream.

To note, I did massive amount of research on my system before I installed Windows Vista. I made sure drivers where available for each component of my system in either 32-bit or 64-bit, when I found all the drivers I needed in 32-bit and only 2 in 64-bit, my answer was in front of me.
