ide drive boot problems

after removing 250gb sata boot drive and replacing it witha ide drive i cannot get xp or vista to install, they both install right up to the first reboot, then computer just stops, some times it comes up with error message, something about cannot find boot drive???
any ideas guys and gals :confused: :rolleyes2

    Have you been in the BIOS mars? Something in there is probably pointing to a SATA interface as the first boot device.
