Volume problem?

edited March 2007 in Internet & Media
I bought a VHS/DVD Slyvania everything works good except when I try to turn up the volume when its playing a DVD. It only goes so far then emits a high pitched screech. It does not happen on the VHS side. I tried gold plated cables that didn't help much. Any ideas??? Thanks:confused:

Its not likley to be a problem with the cable. I assume you are playing the sound through your TV rather than through an amp and sepparate speakers?
Does it suddenly start "screeching" or gradually build up the more you turn it up? It sounds like some sort of feed back but as there is no audio in on you DVD that cant be the case.

Unless of course you are using a separate amp then in theory you could have something wired up wrong. Its odd that it doesn't do it on VHS though.

No there is no extra amp, the screech just starts suddendly when you are at about 3/4 volume.
