Belkin Pre-n router F5D8630 & AOL

edited April 2007 in Science & Tech
A friend as asked me to set me a wireless network for them, they are on AOL, I have a spare pre-n router as above and was going to use this. I have set me a few wireless networks using belkin router by putting the user name and password for the ISP in the correct settings in the router and never had problems.
Is this the same procedure with AOL as i understand they are different. They currently use AOL's browser, can this still be used using a belkin router. Is it possible to use Internet explorer with the wireless router?

Thanks Matt

AFAIK, AOL stopped their ISP service a while back, and now is only a content provider. Either way, however, it doesn't matter. Just make sure that the router is connected properly to the modem (in uplink mode by way of a physical cable) and set up the home network from there using windows networking wizard.

After that, the fact that they use AOL wont matter any more than someone who uses Firefox or Opera instead of IE... It shouldn't have anything to do with their home network.

CB, I still have a client who has AOL, despite also having broadband. If that's the case with mattandrew's friend, you can't set the Belking to sign in for them. They just don't use the modem to connect to the net, but they still sign in to AOL's interface.

I asked her why AOL. "I just feel safer". I told her if she really wants that much safety to leave the damn thing unplugged. I don't think she understood, or appreciated, the sarcasm.
