Blue Screen of Death reboots! Windows XP

edited April 2007 in Science & Tech
Ok, I've just had my computer come back after having a new hard drive fitted, and I'm having a repeat of a problem I had with the faulty hard drive.

I'm getting sudden 'blue screen' reboots, although I managed to switch the settings so the blue screen stayed on screen without rebooting itself, so I could write down what it said, so I'm wondering what it all means.

It said first of all that Windows needed to shut itself down to avoid serious damage.

And in the 'technical data', it said the following:

*** Stop: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xFAD52395, 0xF4067658, 0x00000000)

*** MpFirewall.sys - Address FAD52395 base at FAD500000 Datestamp 3df0c071

Does anybody know what this all means, because I don't have a clue!

Ok. not to worry, I think I've figured it out....it's McAfee Personal Firewall causing this...

Thank you so much AOL, for giving me this wonderful software which crashes my system!

I've rid my PC of McAfee and installed ZoneAlarm instead.....at least that never crashed my PC!
