DNS server and routing question

Ok quick question. Someone I play wow with is having latency issues with a server on chicago1.level3.net timing out/dropping packets.

My question is if they route through a different dns server will it change the routing tables or will it still just say: you are at point A, they are point B and still take the same routing?

dns has nothing to do with the route they are taking, so the short answer is no, it will make no difference.

    Aranyic,

I would move this to the Gaming forum here but the truth is, its hard for anyone to diagnose that one when its not even your computer. I'm with Prime, DNS just gets you an IP address. It doesn't route the packets.

Your question is a network question, but its the kind of problem gamers run into a lot. Maybe your buddy posts over there?
