Spy Sweeper

Hi,

I have Spy Sweeper and AVG free version on my system. Is therr anything else I should add for extra safety. I was told that if I had Spy Sweeper all I would need would be an antivirus. Any suggestions?

Also what changes should I make to the defualt internet explorer settings?

    Hi, New Day. You need both an anti-virus and a firewall program.

    I also recommend these:

    Firefox or Opera browser

    Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser.

    WinPatrol

    As a robust security monitor, WinPatrol will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission.

    SpywareBlaster

    SpywareBlaster prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted software. It also block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox and restrict the actions of potentially unwanted sites in Internet Explorer.

    MVPS Hosts file

    The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer

    IE/Spyad

    IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads ( Cookies etc. ) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

    AVG Anti-Spyware

    AVG Anti-Spyware Free is a free anti-spyware protection tool developed by Grisoft for home use.
