Today Microsoft has announced that the beta for Halo 3 multiplayer will be available through Xbox LIVE beginning May 16 and running through June 6.

Getting access to the beta, though, will require that the user either to gain secured admission through Microsoft's "Rule of Three" promotion, or to purchase a specially marked copy of Crackdown. The beta download also requires a Gold subscription to Xbox LIVE.

Halo 3 is perhaps the most anticipated game release for the Xbox 360 console. Even with these restrictions, it's very likely that the developers will get plenty of data from the beta test, as gamers have been chomping at the bit to get their grubby gaming paws on Halo 3. Will Master Chief stop both the Flood and the Covenant from destroying humanity? Unfortunately, the multiplayer beta won't tell you that, your ambitions to save the Earth will have to wait for the full game release.

More information can be found in Microsoft's press release.

This looks like what should of been Halo 2... but instead Halo 2 was just a down turn from Halo 1. Let us hope this game is 100 times better than the current H2.

If you're interested in getting into the Beta, your best chance is Crackdown, which is a fantastic game in itself. A lot of fun to play.

Crack Down is a game that is good because they didn't advertise it to be something better than it isn't. Great game and offers tons of fun gameplay.
