PC programs went to virgin state
Surtlab
Georgia
After having cleaned my pc up from some spyware, everything seemed to be running fine until now.
I was logged on but PC was in sleep mode. When I moved the mouse and woke it, most of my desktop icons were gone, outlook, limewire, other programs in virgin state like never used. Desktop had changed along with other stuff.
I had cleaned my system restore a few days ago after cleaning pc and created another when all was good.
For some reason, pc won't restore to that day because it states nothing has been changed. My system restore always gives me that message and never restores.
I can't get my music to play, can't find my mail, is it all lost and how can I get the PC to restore back 4 days ago when all was good.
I've run smitfraud, and Avg along with my other Internet securities. Listed below is my hijackthis log..........
Hope someone can help me retrieve my music, mail, and pictures as all is gone and everything seems to be in virgin state.....

PS... I can find my pictures in search, but they aren't in my pictures folder before and I can find my music in search, but it's not in my itunes or limewire librairies and they won't play, can't find the emails. I don't know how to put these back to where they belong and don't know what happened that they moved. I can find these in the search mode but they aren't in there respectvice folders in the start menu. They say they are in........c:\documents and settings\owner\shared..... my pictures or my music.
I have also found that I have no sound. Everything in the hardwardware of device manager says its working properly, however it states in volume...no audio device.
I am just about in tears as I have never experienced anything like this and desperately need some advice/help.
I was logged on but PC was in sleep mode. When I moved the mouse and woke it, most of my desktop icons were gone, outlook, limewire, other programs in virgin state like never used. Desktop had changed along with other stuff.

Navigate to:
C:\Documents and Settings
How many names (profiles) are listed there? There is a possibility your profile became corrupted and so the system has created a new one for you. This will generate a whole new set of icons, user folders and so on.
How many other users do you have who can use the PC?

The owner folder is the right one that has my stuff. Found my outlook express folders with .dbx, but can't seem to open them, don't know what to open them with. Sound is still not here. That's all I know for now, will be back in an hour, got to take a break before I break this machine :-0
You are closer to solving your problem it seems. It looks like you have two owner profiles. One original one with all your stuff in it and another new one created when an issue developed with your machine.
Inside the original owner profile you will find your my documents, pictures and so on. Move them into the corresponding folders in the new owner profile. That will restore them back where they should be. You can also do this with your desktop icons (located in the original owner "desktop" folder).
To restore your .dbx outlook express folders, follow this useful link here
This will explain a nice simple way of getting them back into outlook express. I would recommend moving the .dbx files into something like my documents and repointing outlook express to them. This can be done with the instructions here
As for the sound, I am not sure. Sort this lot out above first. Don't tackle all the problems at once, you won't get anywhere. Knock each problem off the list before tackling another
I did copy my first owner to my new owner, but don't understand why. Why couldn't I continue to use the first owner. I found the music and pictures, but just don't know how to put them back in limewire etc.
I hate my little pop ups that windows is directing me to and it takes forever for windows to shut down. I'm just not sure I can get this all back to the way it was. I'll keep trying, but just don't get the store folder, etc.
Thanks for your help on recovering my music, photos, etc.
