I have a antec laboy case and wanted to add a fan in the window. Ive never cut acrylic like that and was wondering if someone could give me some tips. I was gonna go buy a piece from home depot just in case i screwed mine up but antec does this wierd thing where they dont use a perfect flat piece of acrylic. Also does anyone know where i could buy a pre-modded window for my lanboy?

As far as I know, they don't sell them. The acrylic used in those cases are channeled out so it sits flush with the side of the case.

Hacksaw works better on straight cuts of acrylic than any other tool, any other for me would include dremel, jigsaw, drill. Gives a clean, straight cut without a lot of excess plastic flying around or melting into a sticky mess.

Curved cuts you're best to dremel out a rough cut but leave yourself a good 1/2" excess, then sand it down the rest, sanding barrels on a dremel work well for that.

I've done 6 windows now, learning the hard way as I went. Last tip: leave the masking surface (usually paper with a sticky backing) on the acrylic until the moment of install if at all possible, to avoid fingerprints and scratches.

I buy sheets of clear acrylic @ Home Depot but you can prolly troll the yellow pages for a plastics company locally that may have scraps/excess clear plus any coloured stuff you might want, cheap or free.
