Nero is broken

I've been trying to burn a video to DVD from Nero for a few days now. I've done this in the past and it always worked, but this video is MPEG instead of AVI. AVIs don't give me any problems but these MPEGS don't burn very well. All of them get cut off. Nero burns the first 30 seconds to a minute of each and not the rest of the video. Is there an easier way to burn MPEG to DVD so I can watch it in my DVD player without problems?

Could you explain a few things to me?

What Version of Nero are you running and do you hve all the updates for that version? Are you using Ultra Edition with Nero Vision or not?

I have absolutely no problem burning VOB format DVDs from .mpgs or .avis using Nero Vision for edit and compilation on Ultra versions 6 or 7.

Regardless, my first instinct here is to suggest making sure you have the latest updates from Nero.

I'm using the Ultra edition and I have all the latest updates. I got around the problem by importing into Windows Movie Maker and having it output a WMV file which burned with no problems.

I’m glad you cobbled something together, but something is still wrong with your Nero. It should work.

If it is still troubling, you might think about this:

I had trouble working with Nero once and could not fix it with patches and reinstalls. I was about to start over with a fresh install of the OS when I decided to look at my add/remove programs list. I had EIGHT varying flavors of video packages. I had Nero, Roxio, ATI MMC, Real, Adobe Premiere Elements, Windows Media Player … just to name what I can remember right off.

I uninstalled ALL of them. When I reinstalled Nero, VOILA’, it worked. I then decided I would install only what I needed and I was able to get by at the time with just Nero and ATI MMC. It seems that every mobo, camera, camcorder, video card, etc. generally comes with sort of video package they want you to try out and put on your PC. Resist doing so.

Nero is a good package, but sometimes has trouble with stability and playing ball with other packages (Adobe Premiere was one)- even some video games (Medieval Total War was one I knew of). Don’t bother with Ultra on Vista yet (one among MANY reasons I haven’t migrated).

I hope there is a solution for you, V|P.
