NAS Server

what the heck is it for? Is it so i can run a mini server for my pictures and crap so i dont use photobucket and stuff?

    I've looked at a few of those. Seagate makes one called Mirra too, several others make them. I suppose you could use it your way, but I'm on a cable modem and it would quickly swamp my 384 up speed.

    The idea is that it acts like a server. All your files are backed up to it automatically, and when you're away from home you can get in from the Internet and get files.

    Its a NAS (Network attached storage) throw in a hdd and it lets you access it as network drive

    It supports samba so you can use it on windows too it also seems to support a handful of other protocols.

    edit: It supports ftp so you could use it as a ftp server if you wanted.

    It looks like HTTP is reserved for the web interface.
