start-up issue

I just built a new computer and i got it to start up but the screen is blank. when the computer turns on it beeps and one of my motherboards on-board led indicators will come on. The guide says it is a memory issue. I have checked every wire and tried installing the memory very firmly and in different slots and I still get the beep when it starts up. I have also checked the video card to make sure it was properly installed.

    Take everything out of the case. Put the motherboard on a piece of cardboard, use one stick of RAM, no drives of any kind, and the video card. See what happens. Start adding components one by one, then put it back into the computer's case if it all works.
