WMP11 and Vista stuttering problem.
Hey guys, I am again playing with the sorry excuse of a "newer and better OS" that is Vista Premium 32 bit on my new Dell laptop and have been having this problem with WMP11 (which sucks balls even compared to WMP10) having a stuttering problem about 20 seconds before a song ends when there are multiple songs to play. However, this does not happen to the last song in the list when it is played. I have also noticed that it seems to take that WMP11 POS several seconds to even start playing when you load some music files to play. This is happening with mp3 files on my hard drive.
I do not have any of these problems on this computer when I am running Win XP Pro on it and using WMP10. When I got my new laptop I went ahead and spent another $115 for an identical hard drive to the one that Dell shipped it with and then installed XP Pro SP2 on it in anticipation of a crappy Vista experience. But since it looks like this Vista crap is the wave of the M$ future I figured I would go ahead and try to live with it if possible. But so far I haven't found many reasons for choosing it over XP and it's crap such as this that just pisses me off to no end.
And none of this is related to having inadequate components either. When I buy a laptop I go for a mid to high end machine. The specs for this Dell are pretty good and consist of the following:
Core 2 Duo T7400 processor
2 gigs of DDR2-667 ram
100 gig 7200 rpm Seagate SATA hard drive
GeForce Go 7900GS 256 video subsystem
Sigmatel HD onboard audio with the Creative Audigy Audio software (under Vista)
Any help would be appreciated.

Anyway, I found the simplest way of making it go away, is to turn off Audio Enhancements. Find it at :
Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound
You'll find a list of output devices under the Playback tab. Select the one you're using, and click Properties.
Under the enhancements tab, select "Disable all enhancements". Do it even if everything listed there is turned off.
Those enhancements don't really do much anyway...but hey, makes you wonder..why are we paying for soemthign that doesn't work?
Hope that helps.
And yes, your suggestion has fixed my problem; thank you very much!!!
When I called up the Dell number to order my computer (after configuring what I wanted online) and told the dude how I'd like to build my notebook, he was pretty damn impressed with the machine I built for the price, especially compared to the XPS1710. He called it building the XPS on the cheap.:kneel:
