Multiple XP installs

edited May 2007 in Science & Tech
Hi Everyone!

I think I did something stupid... Here's the story. I had XP installed on a 250 GB drive that I was using for media backup. I then changed the MOBO out and reinstalled XP. When I booted I had a second installation of XP to choose from. This happened because I used a slipstream disk I made. Not realizing that, I did another installation thinking that I would get the option to remove or repair the existing instance of the installation but alas, I now have three instance of XP. I have tried trashing all of the files from the old installs but I am betting that I haven't gonne far enough.

How do I get rid of the two older, non-working instances of XP?

Thanks!

Boot into the working one, delete the folders of the other three, then load the windows recovery console:

Type fixmbr and fixboot. Restart the PC.
