I still use Microsoft Office XP 2002, but recently the program I use to view images, Microsoft Photo Editor, seems to have disappeared. Instead, pictures are opened in Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer. Any idea what may have happended? I do not know when it disappeared, or what may have caused it.
I have tried to reinstall all of the Office XP components, but it did not help. Any ideas?

You can check File Types in Folder Options and see what the default associations are for your various picture files. :)

Well, see, I can't find the program at all. I can't find it if I search for it, and it's not on any list. it's just vanished from the surface of my computer. As mentioned earlier, reinstall didn't help.

If your using windows xp, you should be able to hold shift, right click the image, goto open with --> Choose Program...

Select Microsoft Photo Editor... it might also be called Microsoft Picture Manager... and make sure that you have the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' option box checked, it should be found below the list... hope this helps :)

Yea I think he means Picture Manager too. I use it all the time...not fancy but gets it done quickly.

Can you just find the executable? I have Office 03 and the exact, default path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OIS.exe. If it's not there, search for OIS.exe. If you find it, double click it and the program will open. Then go to Tools> File types... and it will change the file associations Prof was talking about for you.
