New hard drive query

Hello all.
I recently installed a new 300 gig HD in place of an old 30gig one but in Windows its only showing the capacity of the HD as 120gig:confused:
Bios shows it as 300 gig though.Any ideas?
im running XP Pro btw

    is the drive partitioned by anychance?

    the drive isnt partitioned as far as im aware although when i installed XP on it for the first time it didnt work so i re-installed over it again which worked-is that the problem?

    Service Pack 2 for Windows XP.

    Please go to start -> run -> type: diskmgmt.msc -> hit enter

    Please take and post a screenshot of this new window.

    none of the image hosting sites are working for me at the moment:rolleyes2
    i can see there though that 151.47 gig is "unallocated"

    Your WinXP disc is probably not SP2; you probably installed it after you installed the OS, which is pretty common. If that's the case you have two options at this point:


    A) Purchase a copy of Acronis Disk Director to resize your existing windows partition to fill the entire disk.

    - Or -

    B) Simply create a new 151.47GB partition in diskmgmt and store files on that.

    Yea thats right i installed SP1 and SP2 after.
    think ill probably just create a new partition.think i could manage that lol.
