Woke up to a bunch of viruses.

Hi, it's been a while since I had to come to you guys, but I believe it's time to speak to the masters. Anyway, I bascially woke up this morning, and I noticed I had a bubble in the taskbar saying I had a virus, supposedly a keylogger trojan. There was another pop up, but my computer crashed, and wasn't able to save the info. Well anyway, also I noticed that I had a new antivirus downloaded...I was pissed. I think it was my friend thinking he could help, but like the hitchhikers guide says don't panic! and he must have because he downloaded AVG, but it was some random AVG + SPYWARe and a neat little "toolbar" which also makes your homepage some spyware warning.
Anyway, so I uninstalled the antivirus, and removed the toolbar. At the sametime I woke up, my AVG Free was actually doing a scan, but it didnt come up with anything significant. Just now though, I checked my virus vault, and I do have two new viruses...

Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.LOQ
Trojan horese Generic4.OSA

So anyway, I downloaded the good ol' S&D, SpywareBlaster, and Ad-AwarePersonal. I also downloaded ZoneAlarm Firewall. The Ad-aware, cleaned up quite a few spyware, which were mainly in the registry. :( . Then S&D got a few lower threat things, and SpywareBlaster blocked sites like it always does. Then I got to ZoneAlarm, and as soon as I rebooted, an alert came up.

CLI.exe
127.0.0.1:1042

I am not sure if this is a standard thing or a virus looking at the IP, so I have left the alert there, waiting on you guys to decide if I should deny it lol.

Anyway, thats basically my story, now I will give you all the fun stuff to read :)

    Hi Mr.Zombie!,
I know this is not part of the subject, but now I cannot access AIM because of ZoneAlarm.
I don't use Zone Alarm so I cannot give you specific instructions, but you'll need to somehow open Zone Alarm and allow AIM to use the Internet.

CLI.exe is a process belonging to ATI, so it is safe. Just FYI, when Zone Alarm gives you an alert that you are unsure about, do a Google search for that Process and you should easily find out what it is.

    On to your problem:

    1. I need to see another log from HijackThis.
    • Run Hijackthis.
    • Click on Open the Misc Tools section.
    • Next click on Open uninstall manager.
    • Press the Save list button.
    • Save the file to your desktop, with the default name of uninstall_list
    • Copy & Paste the entire contents of that file in your in your next post.
    2. Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
    http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other options until you are asked to do so!

    3. Please post the following...

    Uninstall list

There was one other thing, when you said to do this:
Quit Internet Explorer and quit any instances of Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
On the General tab, click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
In the Delete Files dialog box, tick the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
On the General tab, click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files, and then click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the Reset Web Settings button. Click Apply then OK.
    Click OK.

I am unsure if I got the offline content or the reset websettings, because I have IE7, that's all... But, I'll let you decide the next step, but I do have a folder I created with what I believe might have been the source, I believe AVG Anti-Spyware Quarantined it, but it's still on my desktop, should I delete it, or just wait? Thanks again.

Don't worry about the top bit. AVG-AS quarantined some files from the Folder on your Desktop and not the Folder itself. I do suggest that you delete that Folder, if you do not need it.

Free programs that may help you in keeping the PC clean
    • SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.
      You can download SpywareBlaster here
A tutorial can be found here

And you can easily have an anti-virus program running alongside SpywareGuard. It also features Download Protection and Browser Hijacking Protection.
      You can download SpywareGuard here
A tutorial can be found here
    • IE-SPYAD
IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone, so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all. It basically prevents any downloads, cookies, scripts from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
      You can download IE-SPYAD here
A tutorial can be found here
    • Hosts File
A Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad, spyware sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
A tutorial can be found here
      • MVPS Hosts File
You can download the MVPS Hosts File
Furthermore the website contains useful tips and links to other resources and utilities.
      • Bluetack's Hosts File and Hosts Manager
Essentially based on the research made by Webhelper, Andrew Clover and Eric L. Howes, it contains most if not all the known spyware sites...sites responsible for hijacks, rogue apllications etc...
        Download Bluetack's Hosts file here
        Download Bluetack's HostsManager here
Free Spyware Detection and Removal Programs
    • Ad-Aware
It scans for known spyware on your computer. These scans should be run at least once every two weeks.
      You can download Ad-Aware here
A tutorial can be found here
    • Spybot - Search & Destroy
It scans for spyware and other malicious programs. Spybot has preventitive tools that stop programs from even installing on your computer.
You can download Spybot - S&D here
A tutorial can be found here
Before adding any other Spyware Detection and Removal programs always check the Rogue Anti-Spyware List for programs known to be misleading, mistaken, or just outright "Foistware".
You will find the list here

WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. You'll be removing dangerous new programs while others download new reference files.
    • Detect & Neutralize Spyware.
    • Detect & Neutralize ADware.
    • Detect & Neutralize Viral infections.
    • Detect & Neutralize Unwanted IE Add-Ons.

    Use an AntiVirus Software

It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See the link below for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs.
Computer Safety On line - Anti-Virus
    http://forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?p=53#53

    Update your Anti Virus Software

It is imperative that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

    Use a Firewall

I can not stress enough how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For an article on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below.
