Video RAM........

edited June 2007 in Hardware
I have a gigabyte 939 pin mobo with a GeForce 6100 GPU onboard. The system showed 256MB of video ram earlier. But lately, i'm getting only 128MB of it for no apparent reason . I tried reinstalling windows, updationg the bios, but still I'm getting only 128MB. Is there a problem with my mobo? Please help.
I've got 512mb of ram of which 16mb is shared.

The GPU may only have 128 MB actual on the board, and require the rest to be shared.

If you share 128MB, do you see all 256MB come back?

Even when I share 128MB I dont get the 256MB. Earlier, I was getting 256MB with sharing just 16MB (that's the minimum I can share). Is there a problem with my mobo?

You are not by any chance getting your terminology mixed are you? There is also an aperture setting for memory in the BIOS along with the shared memory. Also, is BIOS detecting all of your memory?

i've checked all that but am still not getting the full 256mb video ram. BIOS is detecting my full system memory minus the 16mb shared.
