Sending thousands of e-mails!!!

Right - I should first and foremostly point out - I am asking this question in my 'employment capacity' and not as an individual!

We send thousands of e-mails - on a monthly basis, occasionally more frequently to our base of subscribers - at present this is around 7 thousand e-mails- sent to customers who pay for our online databases - we send a monthly roundup newsletter etc.

At present we use an application called 'group mail 5' but its utterly sh*te - every time I use it it crashes, hangs, does not render information properly etc - it basically makes me want to destroy office furniture! - not good!

Does anyone know of decent software to achieve this task - it must have html capabilities (thats understanding html - not necessarilly composing it) and most importantly the ability to connect to a sql database to pull off the customers...

I doubt anyone will know! - but u never know!

I've recently signed this site up to use Campaign Monitor, which basically puts the responsibility on their server and is very robust. It's cost per e-mail, but there are bulk discounts. Personally, I think it's well worth the cost for my application. I found it via some other very reputable sites that use it.

You could, but when dealing with that volume it would probably be more reliable to use a commercial product, especially if you need a large feature set.

Ill give that a look keebler.

We need to do something different, the group mail thing is seriously doing my head in!

@ airbornflght i know nothing about php, so that would be a no go for me - and as keebler says with this volume of e-mails something that handles the unsubscribes, the bounces etc all for me is very useful.
