Are they compatible? And what what kind of performance can I expect? Thanks a lot for your help and opinions.

    Should work together.

Buying old technology would not be the best solution, especially a castrated version (Celeron), considering the very low price/performance of that setup compared to today's C2D systems. This would leave no place to upgrade in the future.

Thanks a lot for the reply. The box is the 4th and very old. I just want to make it work. I got the Celeron as an OEM for 10 bucks. I have some old Kingston memory 512 MB 400Mhz DDR. Thanks again. I appreciate it very much. I was aware of the limitations, but I hated let it go to waste. I'm using an old ATI Radeon 9200. I might give it to my mother ( 86 ) to cruise the Internet.

Sure if you already have the rest of the equipment, and I doubt mom will know much of a difference browsing the internet.
