OEM Confusion

Hey all,

I am aware OEM software is kinda a 'grey' area - its 'system builder' but some sites say its OK to buy it and install it if you buy some hardware @ the same time - this seems confusing.

I see Kaspersky Internet Security OEM version for around £9 - so could I theoretically buy say a HDD or another DVD burner or anything @ the same time and install it on my machine?

What would stop me? - Would it install and validate all fine?

(Just to clarify this is a home user situation - some of my posts are from a corporate pov - this is just for me sittin @ home on my pc)

You have to purchase hardware with OEM software, and every company specifies a different list of qualifying hardware. Microsoft, for example, now requires that you buy a motherboard.
