Mono to Stereo

I have a RIM Blackberry Pearl and it outputs a mono signal by default. I just bought a 2.5'' to 3.5'' converter from Radio Shack not knowing that the signal is mono. Now that I'm using the blackberry's media player with regular headphones, only the right phone gets a signal. Is there any way to ghetto a converter from mono to stereo? I would go buy a converter but I have to study for finals and I'm leaving on Wednesday. I just want it to repeat the signal on the right side to the left side.

there's a couple ways to do it. you could buy a mono adapter instead. that'd be the easiest way. or you could bridge the contacts either on the headphones or on the adapter, don't think it should mess with impedance too much.

Got any ideas for bridging? I tried aluminum foil around the headphone prong but it gets too thick to slide into the phone. I'd like not to do anything permanent like saudering. So what other ways are there?

thats what I'd do, just get the tip hot and drizzel some silver solder right over the gap. you might be able to scrape it off, but really now, an adapter is only $3... so its not like your ruining a high dollar piece of equipment.

you could also splice the little wires together into a y-junction in the middle of the cable somewhere (closer to the jack would be better). This would be a more permanent solution.

Just get a Mono to Stereo adapter, if I am reading what you need correctly.

I assume you have your jacks at 1/8" size, now for the headphones right?

Rad Shack should have a 1/8" Male Mono to 1/8" Female Stereo that is already wired, it will just provide the mono signal to both channels of the female stereo side.

EDIT: Sorry, you said you didn't want to buy anything more :(

I like the second one. The monster is unneccesary and its a waste of money. The cheaper one is good as long as works. I just don't have time to pick it up. I'll try and get one of my friends to pick it up though. Thanks.
