Help needed with reader_sl.exe

My computer has become slow to start up and when it does complete opening a message comes up on my screen saying that reader_sl.exe is unable to open and is trying to browse for it. Can you please tell me what I can do to get rid of this message.

    "reader_sl.exe" is a process associated the with the Adobe Reader. It is used to decrease the load time for Reader when a .pdf document is selected.

    I'm unsure as to why this would attempt to load at startup unless you have (i) set a .pdf to open on startup and (ii) Reader is trying to comply but can't do the job as there's something wrong with the reader_sl.exe file (looks like it's missing).

    Firstly I suggest you re-install the latest version of Reader to make sure all is well there.

    Then reboot and see what happens.

    If there is a .pdf attempting to load/open on startup, but you don't need it, then disable that item from startup. You can (presumably) load it up manually if you need it.

    Stopping this item from loading at startup may well improve the startup time lag you have now.
