Google & DoubleClick: Microsoft on the war path

As we've mentioned elsewhere on the site, Google recently purchased online advertiser DoubleClick, which gives Google access to a valued tier of big-name customers. Since the announcement, it seems that Microsoft has been lobbying the FTC to investigate the deal according to anti-trust laws. I guess once you get burned by those laws, you wouldn't mind seeing your newest competitor burn with you.
According to Beta News, Microsoft senior counsel wrote that "This proposed acquisition raises serious competition and privacy concerns in that it gives the Google DoubleClick combination unprecedented control in the delivery of online advertising, and access to a huge amount of consumer information by tracking what customers do online".
