NVIDIA Audio Driver UPDATE

edited November 2003 in Science & Tech
Short-Media brings you news of some new nForce 2 audio drivers which today appeared on Microsoft's Windows Update Site. The drivers, speficially for the 'Audio Codec Interface' and 'MCP Audio Processing Unit' carry a driver date of 8/9/2003 and update the current driver version from v6.14.348.0 to v6.14.362.6.

These drivers don't appear to have made it onto the Nvidia site yet, as they are probably part of an upcoming Unified Driver release which has yet to be fully completed. Something which we may have had a glimpse of a few weeks ago, when a [link=http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4127&highlight=]leaked set of nForce drivers[/link], carrying the tag 2.64 were briefly made available on the web.

Nevertheless, for all you nForce 2 users, better head on over to Windows Update and grab the new drivers. Special thanks to Lammypie for the heads up on this one.

Don't use'em, they're buggy, like 'audio control panel' becomes unusable.

Ehh, a better audio driver would be nice (help for Halo), but I think I'll just wait for the offical release, as I hear it's coming soon (along with brand new IDE drivers). The audio control panel is also completly updated for the driver, so I'd imagine thats why the older one doesnt work.

    Can't wait for that!

Read more about it on the nforcerhq.com's Driver forums.

Yep, same trouble over here. Works fine though, as long as you stay away from the control panel. he he;) . The PC in question is my mums, so I doubt that will be a big issue for her.

"Hey mum, sorry to tell you this but, the Control Panel for your motherboards chipset ain't working now I've installed some new drivers for the interface and codec parts of the audio driver architecture"

I can see her now, sitting in her rocking chair, eagily awaiting nVidia's official release. ;D
