Port Magic 1.1

Folks, Ive been having problems enabling port forwarding on my Belkin 4 port router.

1. Belkin dont call it port forwarding, they call it virtual server setting. (took me a while to work out what it was.

2. After working out what it was I find I can only open specific ports rather than a range of ports and I'm limited to the number of ports I can open i.e. 10 if I use tcp & udp

3. After opening the corect ports it didn't seem to work that well when using bittorent.

So I found this program called Port Magic which claimed to manage all this for you if you had router which it was designed to work with which I did.

So I've downloaded it and am currently using the 30 day evaluation copy and it seems to work very well. I can now accept incoming connections from other bittorrent clients which greatly speeds up your download rate so I'm fairly happy.

What I'd like to know, before I spend the dosh getting a license, is does anybody else have experience of the program and what are their thoughts.

Ultimately I think I'll have to purchase a new router that's more suited to my needs as I appear to have out grown this Belkin. I.e one that I can open up a lot more ports on or whole ranges.

Cheers guys

Jim :)

That port magic thing probably just plays about with uPnP. There is a uPnP version of BitTorrent available, so first check to see if your Router is uPnP compatible then download the special client and all (should) be well.
