Please can anyone help?!
I have just bought a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP + XP1800 CPU off ebay. I put it on my existing set up and powered up. It started (saw cpu fan start and usual sounds) then shut down after couple seconds. It did it again then wouldnt start at all, waited a while then it powered on and off again. Seller says it worked fine  any help would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, David

Clear CMOS, try another PSU and if that doesn't work then try a diffrent CPU. Has happened a few times to me and it usually was a bad cpu.

Sounds like it could be shorting out, make sure you have used the standoffs properly on the back of the motherboard to mount it to the case, it could just be touching something it when it does, it will turn it self off to prevent damage.

Have you got the cpu fan connected to the proper header on the MB? Some MB's have a sensor you can turn off in the bios that makes sure a fan is running on the Heatsink and untill you turn it off in the bios you have to have some fan on that header.

Other then that then pull it out of the case and set it on a MB box or something non conductive. Disconnect all drives etc. Leave only the vga card in for now and while the PSU does NOT have a power cord attached pull the cmos battery for about a minute then reinstall it and plug the psu in and try to power it up one more time.
