Processor Overheating... but why?!?!

Well, I don't believe it can be Windows, and the cpu can't just double it's temperature (without poor hsf contact, which is clearly not the case). So it'd be suspicious that the mobo might be going haywire and overvolting? Check the voltages, fsb, multiplier, yadda... :-/

Strange problem indeed. You alredy done what I was going to suggest.... The other thing that I would look at would be the mobo like ninja suggested. I really don't think that even a bad install of windows would make your cpu's temps jump that high. Do you have another mobo to try your processor in? or maybe another cpu to try?

I was just going to ask about the fan, but I see your edit.

If your fan stoped spining at all get a new fan ASAP. Do not
use your computer until you get the new fan!!! I have the same
Fan on my system and have had no problem for over a year. I
am thinking of replacement now that I read this post.

Quote " THE CPU FAN STOPED SPINNING " Did your computer
auto shutdown then? Just for insurance you should get a new
fan since they are nothing moneywise. I am going to too.
