Thorton or XP-Mobile or W00T???
On hexus.net there is an interesting pic labelled "Core: Thorton". There are three problems with this pic:
1. While there have been rumors something with a L2 core half the size of the rest of the Bartons exists, AMD has denied making anything coded thorton. However, the latest specs for the XP-Mobile could match this kind of CPU. The XP-Mobile is first supposed to come out as a desktop core that fits in a Socket A socket (so it would be a 130 nm core on a desktop package).
2. The copyright year fits a Duron (1999).
3. The MW suffix after the XP could mean Mobile something.
I bring this up as The Inquirer is talking about a Thorton chip and links to these pics on Hexus.net-- so before anyone adds to what looks like is partly a true rumor and partly a glimpse of a transitional XP-Mobile Barton, it would be nice if someone dug into the specs on AMD's site and if they could validate what the CPU roadmap on AMD's corp site seems to imply (IE that Duron will be replaced with a Barton derivative), that would be a bonus.
Either someone "is having us on--" so to speak, or we are seeing the first of the Mobiles a couple months before official release (more likely). Or, someone stuck an old pic of an Athlon up on Hexus (I hope not).

confirms the information is true.
http://www.hexus.net/ is the site the images of the CPU are on. I am told they are real by a co-worker there

could still be real mind you.
Also add that the dates and linkage seem legit as well.
