I got a p2 my mom wants me to get to work because she needs it at her office.

Problem is it wont post. I check all the power connectors everything is where it should be. I check the front leds everything is fine. I hit the power button again and the led turn on and the psu fan turns on but still no post. I double check the slot to make sure its seated correctly and it is. The hsf is plugged into the motherboard but it doesn't turn on. I'm sensing that the cpu is toast. Anyone want to reassure me on this?

Sounds like the board may be at fault, and maybe the CPU. If the fan spun, and still no post, I'd blame the CPU.

I would suspect the hardrive too. In this order I would swap
out parts if available hardrive 1st motherboard 2nd CPU 3rd
    Good luck finding this problem.

Might also check the floppy. By chance, did you clear the CMOS?

Hard drives and floppies wouldn't prevent POST...a board however would be the cause if the PSU wasn't providing enough voltage; not enough voltage for the CPU to POST and not enough voltage for the fan to spin. It could also be the PSU's fault, but if it were, the fan inside wouldn't be spinning.
