Lite-On 48x cdr issues
I think my CDR drive might be dying. I had 4 coasters at 40x writing before I realized the pattern (using 40x Sony blank cdr media I've used in the past with no issues).
If I ramp the speeds down to 24x it writes fine, but any higher and at 70% each and every time it slows, then stops, then gets stuck in a kinda loop (spinning/accessing/slowing) until I either reboot or manually force the drive open (even closing Nero doesn't stop the drive).
I used some canned air to clean it out the best I could, used a CD lense cleaner to remove any dust, but it still has the issue.

Same media, same drive. I'm willing to live at 24x if need be, saves me having to acquire a new drive... but a local techie friend has a 40x lite-on he's willing to sell me for $30, so I'm trying to figure out if I really need the replacement.
If the 40X is new that is a decent price, if used check googlegear and newegg first.
