How do I disable the WinXP welcome screen?

On my previous installation of WinXP, it skipped that horrid blue welcome screen during log on and shut down. But after I reformatted and reinstalled XP, I don't remember how I disabled it before. I think I did it by accident so if any of you know how to do this, I would really like to know.

Thanks

    It can be done yes

Go to user accounts, and select change the way users log on and off, and deselect "use welcome screen"

Then you'll have to log in with username and password.

    Also, disable fast user switching

And an XP machine for which you define exactly one user at install goes right to desktop usually.

You still get the welcome screen for around 2 seconds though ;)

I think this is what he means, not the log-in screen

That's automatically disabled when you deselect "use welcome screen".
