raid and dual channel ram

edited July 2003 in Hardware
does anybody know a board, that supports raid (0+1) AND dual channel ram? it seems to me, that the Via Chipsets only support raid and the nvidia chipsets (nForce) only support dual Channel Ram. tell me, if i'm wrong.

the problem is: it only SUPPORTS raid. there is no controller on board. so i need to upgrade an additional controller card and i heard that they are not as good as an on board controller

Well I was useing a promise card up to about a week ago when one of my harddrives finnaly went out. (bad power connection on the harddrive). I had used the same 2 harddrives on another mobo that had a highpoint controller on it and I can tell you there was no difference in performance. The only difference I could tell was the raid card took 3 secounds longer checking the array. It bench marked exactly the same.

I always thought it was the other way around with the controller cards giving better performance, but know I think it's just the same.

Sorry to disappoint guys, but the NF7-S has a Silicon Image SATA RAID controller built in as I am running 2 Seagate Cudas in a RAID-0 now and have been for months. I also originally bought an extra pata-sata converter and ran several different PATA drives in RAID - 0 and RAID - 1 configurations. All ran great and performance was as expected.

Since it's only a 2 channel comtroller NO. It's either RAID-0 or RAID-1 but not dual level. With SATA being one device per channel you'd have to have a 4 channel controller to run a 1 over 0 RAID.
