Sharing on Kazaa

edited August 2003 in Science & Tech
Hello all. I use a Linksys BEFSR41 router. Currently I have my server set up as the DMZ host. But I want to be able to share files on Kazaa but for some reason no one downloads from me. I have Port Forwarding for port 1214 set using TCP forwarding to this computer, but it still dosn't work.

Also, when I do a search for files that I know only I have in my downloads folder, they never come up in searches. What's up with that?

Thanks.

Try sharing the same port but with UDP because I know eDonkey uses UDP rather than TCP. Also tick the "Use Port 80 when port BLAH is not available".

If the computer running Kazaa is setup in DMZ, you should not need to open/forward any ports. At least, that is how I understand it. I thought DMZ opened all ports for that particular computer.

Yes, DMZ forwards everything unless it's not working right. Is this a different computer from the 'server' that's in the DMZ?

I would think Kazaa would be able to bypass the firewall for sharing files, at least to other users who do not have firewalls.

Have you checked the option 'Enable file sharing' or 'Do not share any files' or whatever it is?

What version of Kazaa are you using? I was using an older version (to avoid the spyware) and encountered a similar situation where people would only occasionally download 1 of 4-5 files, and only those files. I also couldn't find files only I had in a search from a friend's computer. I finally went to the newest K-lite and now all my files get downloaded.
