and I can't find the manual. I am trying to replace my intelliMouse Optical since it is not functioning as it should (cuts out every so often). I bought it back in 2000. I was told that I need a photo copy of the Product ID, Manual or sales reciept, Name and Address, Description of problem, and to write supplemental part above page. I don't think I have the reciept and I can't find the manual. Can I just use the cd and make a copy of that instead?

when my intellimouse explorer trackball started going weird, i just had to type in my serial number, and they sent me a 100% free intellimouse explorer 3.0, no questions or reciepts. are you talking with ms about it or the vendor?

This will sound strange. Look on underside of mouse. If label has a serial number and product ID, unplug mouse, set on copieror scanner, copy or scan underside of mouse-- or write down stuff on mouse lable on underside of mouse. I think Microsoft's WEBSITE will let you use the serial number to file a warranty claim fornew mouse. Having it zeroxed lets you read while using mouse if it lets you use the website to file a warranty claim without cutting out.

No, you do not need the CD zeroxed, info you need should be on mouse itself.

Yeah, they told me to do that. They want a zeroxed copy of the Product Id which is under the mouse. They also want either a reciept or the manual.

Um, so ZEROX underside of mouse. Put mouse on copier, right side up, and zerox it-- set it a bit to lighter than normal-- I have been know to do that with cards and HDs in static bags-- picture of device, serial number handy. Offer to send them the CD, the latest drivers are on the web.

Tell them the manual got chewed up by the dog, and receipt was attached to manual with scotch tape at the time. I THINK they will live with that. If not, you want the Rep's supervisor, and that person's supervisor.
