Bios showing incorrect cpu sometimes

Flashed to bios 17 on my NF7-S rev 2 whilst overclocked, oops forgot about it. Everything was fine for a couple of days until something corrupted my WD raptor on sata , maybe a bad download from winmx. Anyway reformated no problem, but after a while when switching of pc it would reboot & show cpu incorrectly only sometimes. No bios settings had changed, here is what I have tried so far, cleared cmos several times, replaced battery, reflashed bios not overclocked, removed cpu fan connector from mb to psu connector. I thought I had solved it when I finally flashed back to bios 16 & it was ok, but it has just happened again, although the pc is not rebooting instead of switching off. When the bios shows incorrect cpu speed so does win xp. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, I have had the mb about 3 weeks.
