Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 ; no official support for Linux

edited November 2003 in Science & Tech
Microsoft has confirmed that its planned upgrade to Virtual PC, software it bought at the start of the year from Connectix Corp, is almost ready to enter the manufacturing process. Except the software giant has said that the new version will no longer offer official support for BSD Unix, Linux, NetWare or Solaris.

[blockquote]Carla Huffman, a product manager in the Windows Client Division, explained, "Customers will be able to run most variants of Linux, as well as NetWare and BSD, as guest OSes on Microsoft's version of Virtual PC. However, Virtual PC is optimized for Windows around key customer scenarios."

Well that makes it pretty damned useless, considering I would have utilized that program to run my linux distro's.

However, it does make sense from MS's point of view, as they don't support anything on the *nix OS's.
