I am planning to upgrade current my Athlon system. Would like to use best all round mobo so having read forums I narrowed down to Abit NF7-S or MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR boards. I want best performance and OC ability, and would like to use 2 sticks of identical RAM cos it best for DDR am i right? Also would want 400MHz FSB for the Athlon XP 2800+ and upwards CPU. Anyway between these two which would you suggest I go for? In fact any other boards should I consider?

from what ive heard i agree, someone should just post a sticky thread at the top that says "the motherboard of choice for icrontic is the Abit NF7-S v2.0" since i plan to buy one in a few weeks

    Thanks for advice.

BUT am i right in thinking that the NF7-S is only 333MHz FSB? Or am i missing something with this version 2 i see mentioned?

How in the hell did an MSI board make it in your top 2???

I mean they are ok boards if you are building one for a friend, or somethng, that doesn't plan to overclock...

Well the MSI I have read were good, and it was in a mobo/cpu/ram bundle that was going cheap so I thought I do a little research on MSI and to get ppl's opinions of it.

Actually it's not like it's a bad board for OC'ing. MSI has been a decent OC'ers option for quite some time now. A few years ago they were a real good option for OC'ers who were into saving some cash or didn't have much. This time the NF7-S is just such a great board with a reasonable price that it is so hard to go wrong. If someone needed to save a few bucks and didn't need the raid controller I would say go with the plain NF7 as it can be had for less than $90 in most places.

Guess I had the worng image on MSI from a bad experience from a friend...

He is running the nf2 MSI board and I was playing in the bios and it really didn't look like it was built to overclock, and that was my friends 2nd nf2 MSI board due to his first one failing and being RMA'd.

Over all MSI makes beautiful boards.
and to top it off, my video board is MSI ;)
