Itouch software causing problems with XP

I've got the Logitech Elite Keyboard and installed the newest version of the Itouch software. It works well, however, when it's time to restart or shutdown, XP takes several minutes before it performs the action. Or if i'm logging of a user, XP takes a while to do that. When it finally does, I just get a black screen. I hit the num lock key and notice the light doesn''t go off which tells me the computer crashed.

Why is this software causing problems?

I never ever load special mouse or keyboard software. I think they overall makeup some of the most problematic software you can use. Tons of incompatibilities and such withother hardware.

Been using Logitec's ITouch with XP for almost 2 years without a hitch. Use the PS2 rather than USB for the mouse.

i have this problem, so does drasnor. logitech has acknowledged the problem and claims to be coming out with a fix in the next patch. in the meantime though, just turn it off before you shut down (btw, the elite is the SHIZNAT)

Hell yeah. I love the elite.

That is what I do, turn it off before I shut down but sometimes I forget.

I ad the same problem with their drivers as well. I just uninstalled them and don't use the quick launch type buttons on my keyboard anymore. I never really used them anyway. A fix would be nice though. :)

I use the volume, mute, and media key mostly. I need the drivers. The volume and mute work without the drivers, but I don't know what level the volume is at when I rotate the dial.

exactly. having itouch open is mostly just a convenience, and it would be nice if it wouldn't impede my shutdown (having worked with some finicky old machines, i always hang around until my comp finishes shutting down, to make sure that it does). i've gotten pretty good about turning it off, but hopefully they'll have a fix soon, after all they did just release some new mouseman drivers.

as an update, this problem ONLY occurs when the keyboard is plugged in through the USB interface. when you use the PS/2 adapter, the problem goes away!

Well is there any difference between PS/2 and USB?

theoretically, the PS/2 should have some bottlenecks that the USB does not. in my experience though, even if you have a USB keyboard on a PS/2 converter, it doesn't get bogged down the way a PS/2 keyboard can. (in other words, no)

short-media has the latest SetPoint v2.30 , which you'll need for setting up [UberOptions] Enables all options on all buttons in SetPoint
It's a little involved to set it up, but those that use it say it's super.

Does that work with the regular Desktop MX?
If so this would be great but if not... what then?

As you can see this guy makes the mods and gives them to people for beta testing. When they're done testing them and all glitches are worked out he then posts them. Not to mention he says if your peticular keyboard-mouse isn't there e-mail him and he will make a mod for you to testout.

Now, All that said the link only goes to the beginning of the forums for some reason, so I'll explain how to get to the site page where the mods are
Click on this link--
http://forums.logitech.com/index.html?l=EN&c=USA
then go to > Cordless Keyboards, Mice, & Trackballs
Page 3-- the 3rd thread down has this http:/logigamer.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=142
Click that link and it will take you to the page with the mods on it. just scroll down a little bit and you'll see them.
Like I say they are a little involved to set up, but everyone there and other places say the mods are great! They make all keys settable.
