edited August 2003 in Hardware
Has anyone in here got a Abit Kt7a version 1.0 motherboard and has anyone successfully forced flashed their bios to a Version 1.3 and then does this take the Athlon XP processors, I'll be glad to here from someone who has got it working and also from those who have not

I think you're talking about motherboard revision numbers, not BIOS versions. You cannot change the motherboard revision with any software - it's a different piece of hardware.

prime is right on that. AFAIK the kt7a will support an AXP cpu, just don't buy a 3000+ and expect it to work. other than that, please try to proofread before you post

Yes some peps have force the flash and the board still worked. However, there is NO advantage in doing so and may cause problems. You still won't have a revision 1.3 board. The revision was hardware changes.

If it's an XP you want to run, just go with the revision 1 BIOS's and you will be fine even though not "Officially" supported.

    a bit late but ...
I am running an XP 2400 on KT7A (1.0). Using the latest BIOS from ABIT site. Right now running at 17*133 = 2260 MHz. The multiplier setting is 9x in the BIOS.

this was taken from an Amdmb forum thread .

Is that using the bios for the KT7A ver 1.0 or the bios for the KT7a version 1.3?

    i think he was using the KT7A v1.0-1.2 bios (A9) .
you'll have to do the socket wire trick to get multipliers above the max the kt7a goes (12.5 i think) .the link i posted on the previous post should give you more details .
here's an Interactive pin-mod guide from Ocinside .
