I have a dead IBM Thinkpad 770 laptop lying around that has a perfectly good 13.3 inch lcd in it!! I wanna take it out and somehow set it up so that I can hook it in to my 15 pin video card on my desktop. Any Ideas??

You can't just remove the LCD panel and plug a wire into it... you'd have to create or buy something to operate the LCD (meaning all the internal circuitry needed to make the panel do stuff).

hmm I figured that it would just operate the same way as any other desktop computer lcd, separate from the computer. Still, how can this be done, anyone?

Yeah I looked into this a while back when I wanted to build a car computer (never happened... yet). Basically the problem is theres no way to plug the laptop LCD straight into your computer, so you need a little piece of hardware called an LCD controller. I spent a few minutes on google, I couldn't find any of the old sites I had looked at but this forum post should be helpful to you: http://www.epanorama.net/wwwboard/messages/7655.html

    Good luck!
